The contract and the standards behind every charter we arrange — in plain English.
MYBA — the Worldwide Yachting Association, founded in 1984 in Cannes by six brokers — is the professional trade association of the superyacht industry. Its roughly 130 broker members worldwide are held to a published code of conduct, carry professional indemnity insurance and are admitted only after proving a track record of professional excellence.
Before MYBA, every charter was a one-off contract: owners and charterers disputed fuel costs, surprise bills arrived at the end of trips, and amateur brokers made commitments they could not keep. MYBA's founding purpose was to professionalise the business of yachting — and its contract documents became the industry's grammar.
First distributed in 1988 and continuously updated ever since (today issued as secure electronic contracts), the MYBA Charter Agreement is the most respected and widely used charter contract in the world. It defines, in balanced terms:
MYBA membership of a brokerage is a meaningful endorsement — but the deeper protection sits in the contract itself and in the central agencies that list the yachts. That is why every yacht in our catalogue, and every charter we conclude, sits inside the MYBA framework regardless of our own size.
Premiere Yachting is an independent boutique brokerage and not itself an MYBA member. We are telling you plainly rather than borrowing the logo.
What your charter does carry: the yachts in our catalogue are represented by MYBA-member central agencies and owners, and every charter we arrange is concluded under the standard MYBA Charter Agreement — the same document used by the industry's largest houses. We treat this framework as the minimum protection every charterer deserves, and we will never propose a charter outside it.
MYBA originally stood for the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association. Founded in 1984 in Cannes by a group of prominent yacht brokers, it is today known as The Worldwide Yachting Association — the professional trade body of the international superyacht charter industry.
Yes — it is the most widely used and repeatedly tested charter contract in the world, refined since 1988. It defines payment schedules (typically a 50% deposit), cancellation terms, insurance obligations, the APA system and remedies such as pro-rata refunds if a yacht breaks down. Your funds are handled through the contractual framework rather than informal promises.
No — and we say so openly. Premiere Yachting is an independent boutique brokerage. However, every yacht in our catalogue is offered by MYBA-member central agencies, and every charter we arrange is concluded under the standard MYBA Charter Agreement, so our clients receive exactly the same contractual protection as with any major MYBA brokerage.
